Born and raised in Graves County, Kentucky, David Spicer's story is rooted in hard work, family values, and a commitment to serving others. The son of a lifelong educator and hairdresser, David grew up learning the importance of dedication, integrity, and treating people with respect. As a young man, his passions were found on the basketball court and baseball diamond, and he was among the first graduating classes of Graves County High School.

David's journey into the jewelry industry began shortly after attending Paducah Community College, where he met his future wife, Shannon. The two married in 1989 and moved to Johnson City, Tennessee, where David spent seven years training and developing his skills as a bench jeweler while Shannon earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from East Tennessee State University.

After the birth of their son, Austin, David and Shannon returned home to Western Kentucky with a vision: to one day build a jewelry store known for exceptional craftsmanship, trusted service, and lasting relationships. David worked tirelessly as a bench jeweler in downtown Paducah while building a wholesale repair business that serviced jewelry stores throughout the region. Through years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination, he steadily built the foundation for what would become David Spicer Jewelers.

That dream became a reality in 2002 when David opened the doors of David Spicer Jewelers at 21st and Broadway. From the beginning, his mission was simple: assemble a team dedicated to repairing, restoring, creating, and selling fine jewelry while treating every customer like family.

For nearly 25 years, David has guided the business through an ever-evolving jewelry industry. From the introduction of computer-aided design and advanced manufacturing techniques to changing styles, trends, and developments within the diamond and gemstone markets, he has embraced innovation while remaining committed to the values that built the company.

Throughout every chapter, the constants have remained the same: an unwavering faith in God, a passion for serving people, and a commitment to helping customers celebrate life's most meaningful moments. Whether through an engagement ring, a restored family heirloom, a luxury timepiece, or a treasured gemstone, David believes jewelry is about far more than what is worn—it is about the memories, milestones, and stories that last for generations.

David and Shannon are proud parents to Austin and Abby, now grandparents, and continue to call Western Kentucky home. They enjoy life on their farm surrounded by dogs, cats, a flock of chickens, and honeybees. When he's away from the store, David enjoys spending time with family and friends by the pool, cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, and exploring national parks and beaches across the country.

Shannon Spicer is co-founder and co-owner of David Spicer Jewelers, working alongside David in building and growing the business since its earliest chapters. Born and raised in Paducah, graduating from Lone Oak High school, Shannon attended Paducah Community College where she obtained an associates degree and laid the foundation for a career in dental hygiene. Married since 1989, Shannon brings both deep personal investment and decades of professional experience to the store's daily operations.

Before transitioning fully into the jewelry business, Shannon spent 30 years as a dental hygienist—developing a strong foundation in precision, patient care, and attention to detail. Recently retired from dentistry, she now plays a central role in meeting the growing demands of the store and shaping its customer experience.

Shannon serves as the store's operations manager, overseeing inventory systems and operational flow. She also plays a key role in maintaining store presentation, visual standards, and packaging and branding consistency. On the sales floor, Shannon works closely with clients as a stylist, helping guide selections for milestone moments, gifting, and everyday luxury.

Her personal style leans toward timeless, elegant design, with a particular appreciation for pieces from Gabriel & Co. and Simon G Jewelry. She often brings that perspective directly into the showroom, offering practical styling guidance paired with a refined eye for balance, wearability, and occasion-based selection.

Beyond her professional roles, Shannon is the steady presence behind many of the store's systems and standards—balancing leadership, customer service, and creative direction. She is also a mom, a "Mimi," and a foundational part of both the family and business that define David Spicer Jewelers. In her free time Shannon loves tending to her farm, she loves to paint, read and sew. She's a phenomenal cook and baker. She's up for any travel adventure, tackling any project, and babysitting her grandkids.

Some of Austin's earliest memories were made in his father's jewelry store at 21st and Broadway. Growing up alongside David, he developed an appreciation for fine jewelry, exceptional customer service, and the importance of building lasting relationships with customers.

After earning a degree in Finance from Murray State University and a Master's in Business Administration from Northern Kentucky University, Austin spent time in banking before joining David Spicer Jewelers full-time in 2020. He started in sales, customer correspondence, and through his father's encouragement he began his studies with the Gemological Institute of America.

Committed to advancing his expertise in gemstones and diamonds, Austin was afforded the opportunity to pursue GIA's hybrid remote/on-campus Graduate Gemologist program while working full-time at the store. He earned his Diamond Grading certification at GIA's New York campus in 2021 and his Colored Stone Grading certification at the Carlsbad, California campus in 2024. Following his studies in California, David invested in a complete gemological laboratory, allowing Austin to continue his hands-on training and master the identification of gemstones across nearly every species. After completing extensive laboratory training and gemstone identification studies, Austin passed the exam to gain the title of GIA Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) in 2026, the jewelry industry's most prestigious professional credential.

Today, Austin's passion lies in custom jewelry design, helping couples select the perfect engagement ring and wedding set, and practicing his gemological education through appraisals and gem identification. Austin helps manage the store and sales floor and specializes in inventory and brand management, marketing, and creating an exceptional customer experience.

Austin and his wife, Kaylee, live in Western Kentucky with their children, Landry and Lane, and their dog, Ruby. When he's away from the store, he enjoys spending time with family, hiking, serving at their church, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He's an avid cook and loves to read.

Clay Blankenbaker's journey in the jewelry industry began in 1989 when he started as an apprentice jeweler in a family-owned jewelry store in Paducah, Kentucky. Over the next three years, he developed a strong foundation in jewelry craftsmanship, completing his apprenticeship and discovering a passion for the trade that continues to this day.

After completing his training, Clay became the store's primary jeweler, a role he held for twelve years. During that time, he earned a reputation for quality workmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to serving customers with integrity.

In 1994, Clay married his wife, Holly, and together they built a family that remains at the center of his life. They have been blessed with six children and several grandchildren, all of whom have played an important role in shaping the values that guide him both personally and professionally.

In 1999, Clay felt called to pursue ministry and began attending Bible college while continuing to provide for his family. After graduating in 2003, he continued serving in local churches throughout the region while remaining active in the jewelry industry.

When the family jewelry store closed in 2002, a new opportunity emerged through David Spicer Jewelers. Clay joined the company and quickly became an integral part of the team, bringing with him years of bench experience, technical expertise, and a dedication to exceptional craftsmanship.

Today, Clay serves as the master jewelers at David Spicer Jewelers, where he works alongside the next generation of talented craftsmen. With more than three decades of experience at the bench, he continues to play a vital role in jewelry repair, restoration, custom design, and the preservation of treasured heirlooms.

Known for his steady character, servant's heart, and commitment to excellence, Clay has helped countless customers celebrate life's most meaningful moments. His career reflects a lifelong dedication to faith, family, craftsmanship, and service—values that continue to define both his work and his legacy.

Before entering the jewelry industry, Luke developed a passion for craftsmanship through furniture building, woodworking, and restoration. His ability to see potential in worn or damaged pieces, combined with a strong attention to detail, naturally led him to the art of jewelry repair and restoration. Luke was raised in Vienna, Illinois, a former gymnast and coach in the sport for nearly 10 years.

A graduate of Murray State University, Luke spent time in banking, where he gained valuable experience in customer relationship management and building lasting relationships. As a former gymnast and coach, he brings discipline, precision, and patience to every aspect of his work.

Luke joined David Spicer Jewelers full-time in October 2021 as a bench jeweler. Since then, he has trained extensively under our team, developing exceptional skills in jewelry repair, restoration, custom design, and customer service. His craftsmanship and dedication to quality have made him an invaluable part of the organization.

Today, Luke works closely with customers on custom jewelry projects, restoration work, and repair services while continuing to expand his bench jeweler expertise through ongoing education and hands-on experience. His passion for craftsmanship and commitment to excellence help ensure every piece entrusted to David Spicer Jewelers receives the highest level of care. He is passionate about assisting the team in any project he’s charged with from social media campaigns, event planning, branding, and operational efficiencies.

Luke and his wife, Emma, live in Western Kentucky with their children, Brighton and Callen. When he's away from the store, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing music, and reading.

Kaylee Spicer has been part of the David Spicer Jewelers story long before officially joining the team. She and Austin have been together since they were high school sweethearts in 2010, married in 2018, and are proud parents to their two children, Landry and Lane.

As a full-time Registered Nurse since 2017, Kaylee has dedicated her career to caring for others. Her compassion, attention to detail, and heart for serving people naturally extend into her role at David Spicer Jewelers. Whether she's helping guests find the perfect gift, coordinating special events, assisting with inventory selection, or contributing to the store's digital marketing, Kaylee is passionate about creating memorable experiences and building lasting relationships.

Known as one of the store's trusted stylists, Kaylee believes jewelry should celebrate life's most meaningful moments—from engagements and anniversaries to personal milestones and everyday achievements. She loves helping clients discover pieces that become treasured heirlooms for generations to come.

Her personal favorites include Gabriel & Co.'s iconic Bujukan Collection, Simon G.'s stunning diamond and sapphire designs, and timeless pearls. When it comes to diamonds, nothing compares to the brilliance and elegance of a classic round brilliant cut.

When she's not caring for patients or assisting clients at the store, Kaylee enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and sharing her appreciation for fine jewelry with her daughter, Landry. She hopes to inspire the next generation with the confidence, grace, and timeless style that jewelry can represent, while teaching that life's most cherished moments deserve to be celebrated.
