What Do I Need for an Appraisal?
At David Spicer Jewelers, we prepare every appraisal from a completely unbiased standpoint. Our responsibility is to carefully identify, evaluate, and document your jewelry so you receive an honest and accurate opinion of its estimated replacement value for insurance purposes.
Many customers are surprised to learn that replacement value and retail value are not always the same. Market conditions, availability, craftsmanship, gemstone quality, and precious metal prices can all significantly impact the cost to replace a piece today.
To help ensure the most accurate appraisal possible, we encourage you to bring any available documentation, including:
• Previous appraisals
• Diamond or gemstone grading reports and certifications
• Original sales receipts or invoices
• Previous insurance documents
• Any known history of the piece
While these documents are not required, they can provide valuable information that assists in our evaluation process and helps ensure your jewelry is adequately documented for insurance coverage.
If no documentation is available, our GIA Graduate Gemologist can still perform a complete evaluation and prepare an appraisal based on the characteristics and condition of the jewelry presented.
