David Spicer Jewelery Warranty & Service Policy

At David Spicer Jewelers, we are committed to providing high-quality jewelry, expert craftsmanship, and exceptional customer service. Our warranty and service policy is designed to help you understand the care, maintenance, and protection available for your jewelry purchase.

One-Year Craftsmanship Warranty

We provide a one-year warranty from the date of purchase covering defects in materials or workmanship on jewelry purchased from our store.

This warranty includes:

  • Loose stones due to setting defects
  • Faulty clasps or closures
  • Defects in craftsmanship
  • Manufacturing issues with mountings or settings

If a defect is determined to be caused by manufacturing or craftsmanship, we will repair or replace the item at no charge.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Accidental damage
  • Improper care
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Work performed by another jeweler
  • Estate jewelry

Lifetime Cleaning & Inspection

We are pleased to offer complimentary professional cleaning and inspection for jewelry purchased from our store.

We recommend bringing your jewelry in approximately every six months to help prevent stone loss and extend the life of your jewelry.

During your inspection, we check:

  • Stone security
  • Prong condition
  • Mounting integrity
  • Clasps and closures
  • General wear

Stone Loss & Gemstone Coverage

We stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship and settings.

Stone Loss Coverage

We will replace a diamond or gemstone purchased or supplied by our store with a retail value of up to $500 if it is lost due to verified setting failure within five years of the purchase date.

Conditions for Coverage

  • The stone must have been sold or supplied by David Spicer Jewelers.
  • The loss must result from verified setting failure.
  • The loss cannot be caused by impact, accidental damage, or misuse.
  • Maximum replacement value is $500.

Stones Valued Above $500

For diamonds or gemstones valued above $500, we strongly recommend obtaining jewelry insurance through a homeowners, renters, or personal jewelry insurance policy.

Eligibility

Not every piece of jewelry qualifies for stone loss coverage. Certain designs, stone shapes, and setting styles may not be suitable for daily wear. Estate jewelry is not eligible.

We reserve the right to determine eligibility and will communicate any limitations at the time of purchase.

Prong Wear & Normal Maintenance

Fine jewelry, especially rings and bracelets worn daily, naturally experiences wear over time.

Important Information

  • Normal wear and tear on prongs or settings is not covered under warranty.
  • Regular inspections are recommended to maintain stone security.
  • Repairs may be recommended if worn or damaged prongs are identified.

Failure to maintain recommended repairs or inspections may increase the risk of stone loss and may void eligibility for stone replacement coverage.

Customer-Supplied Stones

We are happy to work with heirloom or customer-supplied diamonds and gemstones.

Please Note:

  • We cannot guarantee against damage, breakage, or loss during setting or repair.
  • Natural inclusions, internal stress, or prior damage may increase the risk of breakage.
  • By authorizing work, customers acknowledge and accept these risks.

Customer-supplied stones are not eligible for stone loss coverage.

Custom Design Warranty

Custom-designed jewelry is covered by the same one-year craftsmanship warranty as all jewelry purchased from our store.

Custom Design Details

  • Designs are approved by the customer before production begins.
  • Custom jewelry is considered final sale.
  • Structural or craftsmanship issues within the warranty period will be repaired at no charge.

We recommend obtaining an appraisal for any custom-designed piece to ensure proper insurance coverage.

Jewelry Repair Warranty

Repairs performed by David Spicer Jewelers carry a 90-day workmanship warranty.

Covered Repair Services

  • Ring sizing
  • Stone setting
  • Chain repair
  • Prong repair
  • Soldering

If a repair fails due to workmanship within 90 days, we will repair it again at no charge.

Additional Repair Warranty Information

  • Heavily worn, fragile, or previously repaired jewelry may have limited warranty coverage.
  • Any limitations will be disclosed before work begins.
  • This warranty applies only to the repair work performed and does not cover the entire jewelry piece or its gemstones.

We recommend maintaining a current appraisal and insurance policy to protect against loss or damage.

What Is Not Covered

The following are not covered under warranty:

  • Diamonds or gemstones that crack, break, or chip
  • Stones lost due to impact, accidental damage, or misuse
  • Customer-supplied diamonds or gemstones
  • Stones not originally sold or supplied by David Spicer Jewelers
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Lack of routine maintenance
  • Damage caused by chemicals or improper care
  • Theft or complete loss of jewelry
  • Repairs or alterations performed by another jeweler

Work performed by another jeweler may void warranty coverage.

Estate Jewelry

Estate jewelry is sold without warranty. While each piece is carefully inspected before sale, the full history of pre-owned jewelry cannot be verified.

We are always happy to assist with future care, maintenance, and repairs.

Jewelry Care Recommendations

Protect your jewelry by following these best practices:

  • Remove jewelry during heavy work, sports, or exercise
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, cleaners, and chlorine
  • Store jewelry separately to prevent scratching
  • Have jewelry inspected regularly

Proper care helps preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewelry.

Engagement Ring & Wedding Band Soldering Requirement

To maintain warranty coverage, engagement rings and wedding bands designed to be worn together must be soldered once both rings are in possession.

Why Soldering Matters

Wearing rings unsoldered can cause:

  • Excessive metal-on-metal wear
  • Bending
  • Stone loss
  • Stone chipping
  • Structural damage

Customers who decline soldering do so at their own risk. Damage caused by unsoldered rings is not covered and may void warranty protections.

Insurance Recommendation

Because many diamonds and gemstones exceed the limits of our warranty coverage, we strongly recommend insuring valuable jewelry through:

  • Personal jewelry insurance
  • Homeowners insurance riders
  • Renters insurance riders

We have a GIA Certified Jewelry Appraiser on staff and recommend insuring any piece with a replacement value of $1,000 or more.

Insurance Can Protect Against:

  • Loss
  • Theft
  • Accidental damage
  • Mysterious disappearance

Obtaining an appraisal and maintaining appropriate insurance is the customer’s responsibility.

Policy Updates

We reserve the right to update this policy as needed. The warranty policy in effect at the time of purchase will apply to that purchase.
